Bearsden is a small, residential town to the North West of the City of Glasgow. Only 6 miles from the city centre and 15 miles from Loch Lomond its residents are well placed to benefit from the facilities of a major city while having easy access to the countryside. The town is served by a good range of shops, cafes and restaurants as well as medical services in the form of doctors and dentists.
Abbeyfield House is ideally situated for access to the local shops. Alternatively, should you wish to travel into Glasgow there are bus stops and a railway station within 1/4 mile of the house.
There are five churches within the town and it has a rich history going back to Roman times. Parts of the Antonine Wall can be seen in the New Kilpatrick Cemetery on Boclair Road and a Roman Bath House was discovered in 1973 on Roman Road. The latter is only 160 yards from the town centre and approximately 300 yards from Abbeyfield House.
